“Learn to judge what is good in life from the inside out, rather than the outside in.” (p.365)

The social media age has filled our lives with snapshots. Our phones probably hold more pictures from just the last year than all of the baby books in our families combined.  Sometimes they take me back to a time and place that warms my heart, others make me feel the void of what was missing in that moment.  I’ve learned to observe that feeling, take a deep breath, and let it go. A picture may be worth a thousand words, but, no matter how beautiful, it can never tell the whole story. A good life doesn’t always come with a glossy finish. It happens when we learn to connect with how we feel on the inside and let the people in our lives see it. Then on days when we need a helping hand we will find one.  When it’s our time to be the light for someone else, we will be ready. Be bold and vulnerable. The trick is to let your insides and outsides match, only then can we attract genuine connection.

Daily Action: When something tries to activate your anxiety or anger today, instead of reacting, take 4 deep breaths. Activate your parasympathetic nervous system, then you can choose to respond instead of react.

Daily Reframe: Real connection with others happens when we connect with ourselves first.
